DAY 1:
Met on arrival in Cape Town by our representative and transferred to the
Commodore Hotel
for your 3 night stay.

DAY 2:
Today you will have a full day tour introducing you to the rich cultures of the Western Cape.
Starting with a look at the picturesque
"Malay Quarter" and its dynamic museum, discover the unique
culture of the Cape Muslim community and their contribution to South
Africa's development.
We move on to District Six, a once
vibrant ghetto area. Visit the museum which attempts to represent and
recapture District Six in various ways.

You will also visit Langa, Cape Town's
oldest formal black township. Experience first hand the day-to-day
activities of ordinary people, visiting the Chris Hani Literacy School,
a community based radio station, a carpet weaving project, a traditional
healer, meeting the workers and entrepreneurs. Enjoy a refreshment and
lunch at a small township shop "spaza" or a tavern "shebeen".
After lunch (own
account) transfer to the Victoria
& Alfred Waterfront where you will board the boat to Robben Island.

DAY 3:
This morning you depart for the Cape of
Good Hope along one of Africa's most scenic routes, on to Cape Point.
After lunch (own account), drive through historic naval town of Simon's Town,
continuing through Muizenberg to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Return
to Cape Town in the late afternoon.
Tonight you will be taken out on the
town with your own chauffeur driver. Your evening will start enjoying a
drink watching the sunset. After sunset, a short drive through District
Six and the Bo-Kaap where Cape jazz was born. During the evening we will
be stopping at a local restaurant for dinner (included).
DAY 4:
Full day wineland tour of Paarl and
Stellenbosch. A visit to one of South Africa's most famous wine farms
for wine tasting. Lunch is enjoyed in Franschhoek. Franschhoek, the
original settlement of the French Huguenots in South Africa, retains a
Gaelic charm with its boutiques, pavement cafes and fine restaurants.
After lunch, (own account) we visit Nelson's Creek an empowerment wine estate. The
owner of the estate donated land to long standing employees so they
could start their own production of wine, aptly named
"Freedom".
From the wine region, you will be taken
to the Cape Town airport for your late afternoon flight to Durban. On
arrival in Durban you will be met and transferred to Quarters.

DAY 5:
This morning you will be picked up from
the Quarters and taken a tour of Durban City, including a visit to the
B.A.T. Centre, the Africa Art Centre and the Killie Campbell
Collections. After your tour, you will travel to Lythwood Lodge
situated in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains for your two
night stay.

DAY 6:
The Drakensberg mountain range, now a
World Heritage Site, is a mere 1¼ hours drive away and had not only a
natural beauty and abundant wildlife but the largest outdoor gallery of
"prehistoric rock art in the world"!
A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the
mountain, before setting off to visit the hut of a highly respected
Sangoma from whom you will learn about the age old secrets in the
medicinal uses of indigenous plants and herbs. You will also begin to
understand about today's Zulus - how they think and what their beliefs
are; the mystery of Africa will unfold.
DAY 7:
After breakfast transfer from Lythwood
Lodge to Isandlwana Lodge
situated on one of the most remarkable
historic sites in Southern Africa overlooking the Isandlwana battlefield
for your 2 night stay.

DAY 8:
Today you will enjoy Rob Gerrard's
dramatic interpretation of the Anglo-Zulu War. A picnic lunch will be provided for the
tour.

DAY 9:
This morning you transfer to Durban Airport to connect with your
flight to Kruger International airport. On arrival you are met and transferred
to Rissington Inn for your 2 night stay.

DAY 10:
Full day panorama tour. Climb up from
300 - 1700 meters through breathtaking scenery, stopping at historical
and scenic places including God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes, The
Three Rondavels, the Blyde River Canyon, and the old gold rush town of
Pilgrims Rest. A scrumptious picnic lunch with wine and refreshments
will be served along the way.

DAY 11:
This morning you will be transferred via light aircraft to Vuyetela Lodge
in the Northern Sabi Sand Reserve bordering the
Kruger National Park for your 3 day/2 night safari.
Vuyetela offers excellent game viewing
encounters on twice daily game drives in open Land Rovers, both off-road
and night game drives offering prime sightings of big five game as well
as numerous other species. On exciting night drives you will see
nocturnal animals, adding a dramatic dimension to your safari.
Knowledgeable guides and trackers will
lead you on guided nature walks through the heart of the bush, revealing
some of nature's most closely guarded secrets. You will have a chance to
experience the African bushveld close-up as you tread past intriguing
plants and spy more elusive, smaller creatures such as birds, reptiles,
insects and tiny mammals.

This morning you will transfer via light aircraft to Kruger
International to connect with your flight to Johannesburg.
On
arrival you will be met and transferred
to The Peech Hotel, a boutique hotel
centrally located in the Melrose area of Johannesburg.

DAY 14:
The tour is
designed to give the visitor to Johannesburg an overall impression of 'Egoli'
- the City of Gold, South Africa's commercial and financial capital. We
take a look around the suburbs of Houghton, Parktown and Hillbrow, then
on to the hustle and bustle of the downtown area - the New York City of
Africa. Continuing to Soweto (South Western Townships), the largest
black residential area in South Africa ending your day with a visit to
the Apartheid Museum.

DAY 15:
This
morning, you have a choice of a visit to the Cradle of Humankind,
or a Pretoria city tour. After lunch in Soweto continue onto
Lesedi, a multi-cultural African village, set amongst the pristine
Bushveld and rocky hills. Less than an hour's drive from the city
of Johannesburg, this village consists of a number of different
homesteads or traditional villages: the Xhosa, with their
beautiful thatched homes and red blankets; the Zulu with their
fighting sticks and cozy beehive huts; the Pedi with their
courtyards and rhythmic drums; and the conical straw hats and
sturdy mountain ponies of the Basotho. Guests experience a
traditional welcome upon arrival, guided cultural walkabout
through two of the four homesteads, traditional song and dance and
traditional dinner (included). |
